Public Review of New Science Instruction Material:

OUESD has completed the pilot process for new Science Instruction Materials for our Elementary and Middle Schools. We are excited to announce the recommendation of Twig Science (K-5th) and McGraw Hill Inspire Science (6-8th). Information about the pilot process will be shared at the next OUESD Board Meeting on Wednesday, May 20th.

Due to the COVID-19 Shelter in Place order, OUESD is holding the “public viewing” virtually from May 17th - June 17th, 2020. Additional information and links to view the recommended materials are provided in the Letters below. Once you view the materials, please complete the
OUESD NGSS Science Curriculum Adoption Feedback Form to share your comments or questions. Your responses will be used as part of the adoption process.

The official decision to adopt the materials will be made by the OUESD Board of Trustees at the meeting on June 17, 2020.

Due to the current Shelter-in-Place order issued in Contra Costa County, our physical school buildings remain closed.  However, all of our school and district staff remain here to serve you and your students. The Oakley Union Elementary School District will be providing distance learning to all students during this difficult time.

    Grab and Go Meals

“Grab and Go” Meals will continue to be provided to students (under 18 years of age) on Mondays and Thursdays at a limited number of sites and times. Additionally, multiple meals will be handed out at any one time to limit the number of times students must leave their homes.

    Locations and Times as follows:

Oakley Elementary School: Mondays and Thursdays @ 10 – 11 am

Iron House Elementary School: Mondays and Thursdays @ 10 – 11 am

(Mondays = 3 breakfasts and 3 lunches provided; Thursdays = 2 breakfasts and 2 lunches)

    Pandemic-EBT Card

Because schools are closed due to COVID-19, families who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals can get extra food benefits to help feed their children. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT and are in addition to any free meals that you may be receiving through our meal distribution on Mondays and Thursdays.

Families will get up to $365 per eligible child on a P-EBT card. You can use your P-EBT card like a debit card to buy food and groceries for your children.

Most families who receive CalFresh, CalWORKS, Medi-Cal or other social services benefits will get a P-EBT card in the mail before May 22. Please keep an eye out for this card in the mail over the next few weeks.

Other families will need to complete a simple and quick online application before June 30, 2020. More information can be found at the P- EBT information page.
