    State Testing

Each spring, students in third grade and up participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Testing at Laurel will take place between April 26th to May 20th. Each teacher will be providing information for their class schedule.

You can help your child prepare for testing by doing the following:

    • Talk about the test with your child. Make sure they are not scared or anxious.
    • Tell your child that you and his or her teacher have high expectations and that you are both there to help, every step of the way.
    • Take a practice test with your child.
    • Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a nutritious breakfast before testing.
    • To learn more about either the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments or the CAST, go to the California Department of Education Parent Guides to Understanding web page.

    Don't miss out

    Every day counts

Absences late in the school year can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with schoolwork, dealing with a bully, or facing some other potentially serious difficulty.

No empty chairs, we want you there!

    Remember, “Every School Day Counts”!

Absences can add up quickly. A child is chronically absent if he or she misses just two days every month.
Additionally, when children are absent, the state reduces school funding and resources toward pay for teachers and books. We all are negatively affected when a child is not in school.
